Obituary: Jim Maxfield, 52, of Marshalltown died of a heart ailment Tuesday at Mercy Hospital Medical Center in Des Moines. Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday at Pursel-Davis Funeral Home, and burial will be in Rose Hill Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
Mr. Maxfield was born in Marshalltown. He worked in the maintenance department at Marshalltown Water Works and was a member of Frank Lewis Glick American Legion post and Loyal Order of the Moose.
Surviving are a daughter, Nan Maxfield of Marshalltown; his parents, James Sr. and Bessie Maxfield of Alamo, Texas; a sister, Brenda Wardman of Schuyler, Neb.; and two brothers, Alan of Wichita, Kan., and Steve of Marshalltown. . . .

Nan Elizabeth Marie Maxfield was born on April 4, 1967 the daughter of James Russell Maxfield Jr. and Mary Lou Dyche Maxfield in Alameda, California. She was a 1985 graduate of Marshalltown High School. Nan worked at the Totem Bowl for several years and later worked for Swifts for ten years. She liked to sing and enjoyed crafts. She was known as a great cook. She loved to party and be with her friends.
Nan is survived by her mother: Mary Lou (Claudie) McLain of Marshalltown, paternal grandparents: Bess and James "Tiny" Maxfield of Marshalltown, step brother: Bret (Joy) McLain of Nevada, Iowa, significant other: Curt Faber of Marshalltown, special friend: Linda Gillette of Dekalb, Illinois, uncle: Steve Maxfield of Marshalltown, uncle: Al (Jennifer) Maxfield of Marshalltown, aunt Brenda (John) Wardman of Schyler, Nebraska, aunt: Pat (Jack) Fletcher of Newton, North Carolina, aunt, Ethel (Lynn) Harbison of McKenzie, Tennessee as well as numerous other special friends.
Nan was preceded in death by her father; James Russell Maxfield Jr. and her maternal grandparents Nan and Gid Dyche.
