CHARLES1 MAXFIELD was baptized at Longbridge Deverill, Wiltshire, England, on 1 May 1814, a child of Thomas Maxfield and his first wife Anne Compton (Eng Bp).

Charles Maxfield married MARTHA DREDGE at Warminster, Wiltshire, on 31 March 1834 (Eng M). She was born at Longbridge Deverill about 1809/10 (1851 census). Charles and Martha had six children baptized at Longbridge Deverill and a seventh baptized at Crockerton, Wiltshire.

The 1841 census (27:14:17) reported Charles and Martha Maxfield, both aged 25, living at Shearwater Cottage, Longbridge Deverill, with children Charles, 6, Harriett, 1, and Edwin, 2 months. Their second child, William, died in infancy, their third child, Sarah Anne, had died earlier that year.

The 1851 census (353:52) reported this family at Shear Water Tea Cottage, Longbridge Deverill:

Martha Maxfield died at the Warminster district of Wiltshire in the second quarter of 1856 (Eng D). Charles Maxfield married as his second wife SARAH ELIZABETH ELLIOTT at Warminster on 16 October 1856 (Eng M). Sarah Elizabeth was born at Warminster about 1810/1 (1861 census). The 1861 census (26:10) reported the family in the Plot, Longbridge Deverill, as folllows:

Charles Maxfield's second wife, Sarah Elizabeth, died at the Warminster district of Wiltshire in the fourth quarter of 1880. Charles died there in the first quarter of 1886 (Eng D)
