CHARLES PIERCE7 MAXFIELD (James6, Warren5, Timothy4-3-2, John1) was born at Fairhaven, Massachusetts on 21 May 1845 (Hooper, 55), a child of James Maxfield and his wife Louisa Tripp. Charles Maxfield married MARTHA F. HOOPER at Taunton, Massachusetts, on 1 May 1866 (VR Ma 189:139:68). A daughter of William and Mercy Hooper, Martha came from Taunton at the time of their marriage, but was born in Sandwich, Massachusetts (marriage record), in the village of Pocasset (death record), or in Middleboro, Massachusetts (birth record of child).

Charles Maxfield was called a painter on official records in 1866 and 1867, a fresco painter in the 1870 Census. That Census (659:380B) reported this family living in Worcester, Massachusetts, and included his brother and mother:

Martha Maxfield died at 8 Cole Street, Providence, Rhode Island, on 26 April 1873 (VR RI 1873:1254; NB Merc D 936):

Charles Pierce died at the same location the following year, on 6 November 1874 (VR RI 1874:1304):
